The Power of Re-Telling a Good Message

You've probably heard the old story of the three blind men who encountered an elephant, and then each, attempted to describe the elephant. The first blind man felt the elephant's leg and then said, "An elephant is like a tree". The second blind man felt the elephant's side and said, "An elephant is like a wall". The third blind man felt the elephant's trunk and said, "An elephant is like a snake". Same elephant--but three entirely different versions based upon the unique experience of the audience.

Would you like to increase the power of your marketing message so that your audience stands up and takes notice, and responds? You can easily do this by following the principle of "re-telling the message". We tend to think that people want a new story. And so, we work hard to give them something new. Sadly, we may end up presenting our market audience with a lot of confusing, unrelated messages.

When you have a strong story, retell it now and then. Say the same thing, but in different words, from an entirely different perspective. When you do this, you will experience the following benefits:

  • The momentum you began in the first "telling" will increase. Your audience already has a cognitive frame of reference for your message: Their memory of the first telling of your message. As they listen to the second telling, they will subconsciously recall the first, and, as it is now their own memory, their own thinking will confirm what you are now saying. That's powerful communication!
  • Many in your audience will actually hear what you have to say for the very first time. We each process information in our own unique way, uniquely based upon our internal and external condition at the time we encounter the information. Your audience is like a flowing, changing stream. Every time you step into that stream, it's a different stream. Like the three blind men, every encounter is unique and adds to the comprehension of the message.
  • You do your audience a huge favor. You give them another opportunity to grasp a message of real substance.

Would you like an example of retelling a strong message? My powerful message to you is that there are 10 Key Strategies you can apply to increase the results from marketing your business on the Internet. I believe these strategies are so significant and powerful that I base the entire focus of my business on them. Try email marketing. It's fast, easy and inexpensive so you can communicate with your market audience on a regular basis and stay "top of mind" to them. I use iContact. It has all the features you need:

  • Contact management, ability to create and format emails, blogs and RSS feeds, autoresponders for series, a sign-up form for your Web site, excellent training in how to use the tool and more.

Please take a look at this powerful tool. It is central to a successful email marketing program. Don't try to patch your email marketing together with Outlook or some other less powerful program. It simply won't work.
