SOAR to New Heights!

Wouldn't it be great to be able to publish an article in your business associate's e-zine and reap the following benefits:

  • You strengthen the business reputation and credibility of your associate.
  • Your associate is very happy and speaks highly of you.
  • Others notice your win-win attitude and want to know more about you and your business.
  • In the process you make a great first contact with every person on your business associate's contact/client list.

This may sound too good to be true, but it is very possible, many successful professionals do it all the time, and it's not too hard to do. Here is the systematic process:

1) Select your business associate wisely. The following needs to be true:

  • Your associate has a business that compliments and does not conflict with your own. If you're a Business Coach, don't select another Business Coach. Select a Writer. If you're a Massage Therapist, select a Naturopathic Physician. If you're a Realtor, select an Interior Designer.
  • Your associate actively and creatively works on growing their contact/client list. They've got a marketing mindset.
  • Your associate has some form of regular written communication with their contact/client list. It could be an electronic or paper newsletter, or even some form of regular spoken broadcast.
  • You respect and value this associate and would like to have their name associated with them your message and reputation.

2) Learn the key factors that make your associate unique in the eyes of their market. This is what is attracting their contacts and growing contacts into clients. This is their magnetic marketing factor.

3) Have your associate identify their niche market and the key market needs and problems your associate is solving. This gives you the current topic of interest in the thoughts of your associate's clients. Their attention is already trained on this subject.

4) Take time to read your associate's regular publication. Look at the format and subjects and note how other guest writers have presented their articles.

5) Now, write an article that has the following basic elements:

  • It begins by acknowledging your associate's valuable contribution to solving some key need of their market.
  • It then moves to identifying how that need is a part of a larger need. For example, both Realtor and Interior Designer aim to help people live in a home that will bring them satisfaction and enjoyment. The key connector is then, happiness in your home. A clothing designer and a marketing specialist both work to help their clients have a strong credible professional image. "Image" would be a good starting point for a shared article between these two professionals (see an example below).

With this approach, your article will deliver some item of immediate value to the market on that particular area of identified market need.
