SOAR to New Heights! (continued)

  • Finally, in a postscript of two or three sentences, identify yourself, the purpose of your business, and offer readers some reason to engage with you. This could be an e-series or special report or sample that will meet an immediate need. The key is that the reader needs to visit your Web site to take advantage of this offer. More importantly, the offer is the incentive you give to those who subscribe to your e-zine!

6) Swap articles more than once, monthly or at least quarterly, with your business associate. The regular contact over time will make a strong connection, and you will each end up sharing and bringing added value to one another's clients and contacts.

This is the princlple I am launching here with my new "occasional" e-zine section entitled: SOAR Shared Opportunity and Result I'm convinced this will be a value to my readers as you observe how other marketing professionals present themselves and perhaps even discover some product or service solutions that may benefit you. I invite my business associates and my subscribers who have their own business to contribute an article using the above general guidelines.

Here is an example of an article I wrote recently for a business associate. Her name is Joy Kent and she designs outfits for professional business women and may be found at www.designwithjoy.com :

Let Your Image Shine Before People Meet You!

You’re an image-conscious person or you wouldn’t be reading Joy’s newsletter. You have come to Design With Joy because you want your image to uniquely fit your business and your personality, and to support your goals.

Where, in addition to your clothing, do you need that “perfect fit” to convey the right image? More and more, people’s first contact is an electronic contact over the Internet. People are likely to read your email before they ever see you in person. What kind of image are your email messages conveying? Here are 7 guidelines for conveying an electronic image that will “fit” your business and professional goals:

  1. Stand out instantly with excellent grammar, spelling, and complete sentences!
  2. Respond rapidly—use auto-responders where necessary.
  3. Be brief and get to the main point immediately—in your first sentence.
  4. Employ strong headlines so the reader with 100 emails can skim yours and quickly get the point. They’ll thank you!
  5. Thank liberally.
  6. Give your reader one targeted compliment.
  7. Turn your signature stamp into a brief, meaningful tag line that summarizes your business philosophy.

Follow these seven guidelines and your electronic image will always shine, and by the time your reader sees you in your outfit designed by Joy, you will have already won their heart!

Try email marketing. It's fast, easy and inexpensive so you can communicate with your market audience on a regular basis and stay "top of mind" to them. I use iContact. It has all the features you need:

  • Contact management, ability to create and format emails, blogs and RSS feeds, autoresponders for series, a sign-up form for your Web site, excellent training in how to use the tool and more.

Please take a look at this powerful tool. It is central to a successful email marketing program. Don't try to patch your email marketing together with Outlook or some other less powerful program. It simply won't work.
